Work Exchange Program with Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University Heidenheim
Please consider that the Exchange Programs are only for students from our partner universities!
To Prospective Students
Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University Heidenheim offers the opportunity for students from all over the world and from many fields of study to participate in a practical work semester in Germany. The length of the work term is usually between 8 and 12 weeks. It is, however, possible to work for a longer period of time depending on your commitments with your home institution, on working and residence visas, and, of course, on the company that will employ you. It is very beneficial for applicants to have a basic knowledge of German before arriving in Germany; however, it is not required for all of the internships.
Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University Heidenheim cooperates with companies ranging in size from small private firms, to large international companies. They provide experience in all aspects of business and include many types of industries, banks, non-profit organizations, computers and internet, and many more. These companies enjoy having foreign interns come and share their ideas and insights with them. Some internationally known companies which regularly take interns are, for example, Bosch Siemens, Audi, Paul Hartmann, Voith, TRW, and ZF Lenksysteme.
Some previous practical experience is favorable and will help to find an internship in the area you wish to work in.
The internships are paid. The amount of money you can receive for your work varies from one company to another, but generally they pay enough to cover the basic costs of living and a little extra. Don't expect to be able to save a lot of money while you're doing an internship in Germany, but do expect to have enough to get along.
The staff of the International Office at Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University Heidenheim will find the work placement for you and also help you find accommodation during your internship, if you apply through the exchange program with your institution. The opportunities range from living with a host family to private residence.
Students from EU-member states can come to Germany without any restrictions; Canadian and US students can enter the country without a visa as long as they do not stay longer than 6 months. This is strictly enforced. For all other countries, please check with your embassy or consulate regarding entrance regulations, work permits and visas.
If you wish to obtain more information about the application procedures to work Germany, please contact us, or the International Office at your home institution.
